Melanie Martinez made a world beyond the finale

Melanie Martinez left The Voice in the Top 6 of its third season. Her later Cry Baby, K-12 and Portals albums followed the Cry Baby character. For Portals, she told Apple Music that she fully produced Void herself.

Martinez said the bass melody on “Void” came from a voice memo she had recorded a few days earlier, and the chorus melody and lyrics came to her while she looped that bass line. For “Spider Web”, she recorded a guitar idea and sent it to CJ Baran, who built an instrumental track that same day.

Cry Baby peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and is certified 2× Platinum. Her 6.5 million certified single units are the most of any Voice finalist.

She has 4 studio albums after the show.

The prize contract starts a further relationship

The Voice offered a recording contract as the winner’s prize, and other contestants could also enter agreements. Loeb & Loeb said it advised contestants in seasons three through six and season 22 on recording and other agreements with Universal.

The reviewed records contain major-label signing evidence for at least 45 of 320 own-act Voice finalists at some point. Only 7 have a signing date clearly after their finale. An undated or missing contract cannot establish when a relationship began.

Cassadee Pope continued recording independently

In January 2013, Republic Nashville reported that Cassadee Pope had joined its roster after winning The Voice. She left her label in 2017 and independently released Stages in February 2019. Hereditary followed in July 2024, with a return to pop-punk.

Pope released the acoustic project Rise and Shine through her own Awake Music label in 2020, co-producing it with Todd Lombardo.

Pope spent two days at Blackbird Studios in Nashville to make Rise and Shine. She told MusicRow that she focused on the microphone choice and a warm vocal mix. The project included a new version of Hey Monday’s “Hangover”, and Sam Palladio sang on “California Dreaming”.

Danielle Bradbery and Girl Named Tom found later routes

Bradbery released Danielle in September 2024 as her first independent project under DB Records, following Danielle Bradbery in 2013 and I Don’t Believe We’ve Met in 2017. The album brought pop and R&B leanings alongside her country roots, and the self-written “Monster” gave an account of her struggles with anxiety.

The siblings Bekah, Caleb and Joshua Liechty formed Girl Named Tom in 2019 and released the EP Another World. One More Christmas and an opening tour with Pentatonix came in 2022, and What a View followed through Republic in 2023. At the start of 2024, the trio wrote together at an off-grid retreat. They released Get A Little Lost in March of that year.

After parting with Republic Records, Girl Named Tom could release music on its own timetable. The group released Wilder Then and an acoustic version, and launched GNT Insiders to help meet the costs of recording as an independent band.

Dust to Dust came out in April 2026. The trio recorded it with Mark Needham in the previous year, and collaborated with Vitamin String Quartet on music releases and a tour.

Across Voice finalists followed for at least two years, 40% to 50% have a documented new album, EP or single in the last two years. The range reflects release dates that cannot place every record inside or outside the window.
